So for those of you who do not already know, I have been having some health issues since I was in Guatemala last November. Now before you all go, "YOU'VE BEEN SICK SINCE NOVEMBER, WHY HAVEN'T YOU GONE TO THE DOCTOR?!" Okay, calm down :) The reason I did not go for a little while is because I thought it could have been signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, since my dad died while I was there. Also, Jennifer and my mom both had some sickness, so I didn't want to go right away. I decided that I had waited long enough in January, and went to my childhood doctor. Long story short, I got no where. So I talked with my mom and we tried some different things, but nothing changed, and so last Tuesday I went to Progressive Medical. I did some tests while I was there, and I got some take home tests as well, and I will go back tomorrow for a follow-up that will hopefully include some sort of diagnosis. I will try and update you all on this when I find out some answers, but I would love to have you all pray for me and my health in general.
Beyond that, work is amazing, I really, really love my job. It is something that I really feel like I am supposed to be doing, and God is really blessing me while I am here. The people here and my responsibilities here were really helpful in transitioning after my dad died. I wouldn't call it a distraction, but I would call it a tool God has used to help me transition into this new daily life. I am going to be working on a few exciting projects at PSOTA soon, so be on the lookout for those! School is going well, I got my academic plan from my adviser today, and it looks like I will graduate sooner than I thought, but we will see. I am enjoying my classes right now, and the workload is becoming more manageable as the semesters go on.
So now a quick update on my Goals for 2014.
1) Go to two new places. I have not scheduled any trips yet to go to new places, but I have signed up to go to New Orleans this June. I have been there before, so this does not count, but it was something exciting I wanted to share.
2) Memorize a book of the Bible. So originally I thought that I would end up choosing one of the smaller New Testament books, but over the last two months I realize the book I use the most is Psalms. I realized that memorizing this entire book was going to be really difficult and that it was not just a challenge but a rather lofty goal. Part of the rules I set for myself in my goals was that they were actually possible and likely things for me to achieve, and so I had to limit this goal. So I have decided that I am going to memorize the first 25 Psalms. This is still a large goal, but I am going to do my best.
3) Write 10 New Songs. I have completed 1 of my own songs, and I have written with my friend JT and Michael and 1 completed a collaboration song with them. There is also a third song that I have been collaborating on with some others.
4) Give 5 pieces of art away. I have started one of these, and I have 2 other ideas started in my brain, but pictures on these projects will go up soon.
5) Being an intentional encourager. I have a hard time assessing this one, because it is not really a goal I can self-assess right now. I know that I have been trying, but whether or not it has been successful I am not sure right now.
I know this was kind of a random post/update, but I figured it was the best way to get back in the swing of blogging.
Fun Facts:
1) I once memorized the first 3 Psalms for a Sunday School class.
2) I really want to go to Europe. Like today. ok. Maybe tomorrow :)
3) Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans is seriously amazing.
Song: Good (Adam and Eve)- Music Inspired By the Story
This album is one of my favorites and I would seriously recommend listening to the whole thing. It is amazing, this is one of my favorite songs from it, along with Alive, Your Heart, Bring Us Home.
