One the things I love about my life is that many of my best friends live all over the country and all over the world. One of the things I do not love about my life is that many of my best friends live all over the country and all over the world.
I am trying to spend more time focusing on the positive and less on the complaining about the negative,
so this is a post about the positive.
When your best friends are all so spread out, there is really only one solution? Fly to one location and roadtrip to another. Several of my friends and I have been planning a roadtrip to Texas to visit another friend, Marcos, for about 5 years.
Well a few short weeks ago, the trip became reality, and Rachael, Jay, JT, and I piled into my Jeep Liberty, "BERT",
and set out on a 721 mile long road trip.
Professional Roadtripper Tip: The best way to start a roadtrip is coffee and cinnamon rolls.
(P.S. Not a professional. P.P.S. I wish!)

Sometimes a mug says it all.
I've been taking this same (for the most part) picture, with this same camera (different lens) for 7 years.
I'm really original with my photography.

The trip to Houston, Texas took us through half of Georgia, across Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
This trip also took us down many random roads in the middle of no where thanks to flooding.
But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Something I learned on this roadtrip is that roads can be very long and very straight, and...
...so are their bridges. For anyone who has made this drive, or one similar to this, you know this bridge. It is so long.
For real long. Like 50 miles long. PSA: I have no idea how long this bridge is.

Fun Fact Time- I am a huge fan of architecture. Specifically bridges, so I didn't mind this drive.
This photo is titled, "A Bridge with Two Trucks on it". I'm a creative.
This one is called- "Twin Bridges" Why? Because these bridges looked the same, like twins. Identical ones, not fraternal.
This is when I realized the bridge was red. It was enlightening.
For some reason, I really love this picture. The steel is just epic looking.
Also, thanks red truck and blue tarp for matching my out of focus lanyards.

Spoiler Alert- I didn't take this picture.
Fun Fact Time
Fun Fact #1- I have a knack for discovering great places to eat that no one has ever heard of.
Fun Fact #2- I have the amazing ability to find a Starbucks anywhere.
I used both of these skills many times on the trip to Houston.

The trees where green and the clouds were rolling in.
Same pose, different picture. The next couple of photos are called "The Rain Came and the Rain Stayed."
After taking that other picture of myself in a mirror, the closest I get to a selfie, the drops started falling...
And falling...
And falling.
This photo was taken twice. The first time JT turned the windshield wipers on at the exact second that I took the picture.
Dear Dad, thanks for teaching me how to edit photos. Now everyone can see exactly how green the grass was.
Little did we know that while returning home from Houston, we would be attempting to outrun a flood that would devastate much of Louisiana. We drove past exit after exit of flooded on ramps, closed gas stations, and stranded cars
just praying we would make it out of Louisiana before the water that was threatening to rush over the road
succeeded to do so. Thankfully, we pushed on, and made it home safe and sound.

Dusty Rose and Cerulean Blue painted the sky as we drove to escape the flood.
