Hello everyone, I have been away for a while because of something that happened in my life. It actually happened while I was away in Guatemala, on friday night, the day before I went home. I have not decided yet, but I think I am going to do a whole separate post on all that happened, how I am doing and feeling, and anything else around that situation. But because of that I took some time off from life and that included my blog. I have realized something though, one of the greatest things I can do to cope with things is create, and so I am doing that, again there will be more on this in the future post. Anyways, long story short, something I decided to do yesterday with my time was work on some of the photos I took while I was in Guatemala. I have decided not to do a day by day series of posts for Guatemala, but I will be posting pictures, sharing some stories, and some information, it will just be over time, not a series. So:
When: November 2- November 9
Where: Guatemala (Guatemala City, Antigua, and mostly in Sajcavilla)
What: We opened up a medical clinic in Sajcavilla, where we treated patients both young and old.
How many: Because of the event that took place on Friday night, we never debriefed, which means we never got our final numbers, but guessing by adding up the first three days, and adding them to an approx. final day, I would say we saw over 800 people.
Who: We had a team of 18 from a few different places around the US, also a team of people who worked as translators for us from, and a group of church ladies which were a huge help! We started everyone off through Evangelism where Jason shared the Gospel in English and Roger translated. Then they went through triage where Tracie (My mom), Matt, Tara, Madison, Sassy, Jeina, and Jennifer (My sister) all worked together somehow to get them all through. Then they people were either sent straight to a doctors line, the dentist line, or the optometrist. We had a dentist, who was from Guatemala, and she did an AMAZING job, pulled sooooo many teeth, her name was Mira (Not sure how to spell it though). We had Jerry, who worked as our optometrist, and Josh and Ashley were his assistant, and Jackie was their translator. If there was any special treatments that ever needed to be done, we sent them to Christina who helped in the triage room. We also had three doctors, Dr. Rene had his own room where Cameron helped him get things from the pharmacy, and then Dr. Jason and Dr. Katherine (From GUA) worked in a room where I ran the patients in and out and went back and forth to the pharmacy, and Mindy worked as an amazing translator for Jason, seriously. Speaking of the pharmacy, Justin, Jennifer, and Chase all helped with the crazy organization of this room. Greg is a missionary who lives there and helped in a lot of ways, one of which was driving the larger bus. And Jt was our leader.
Like I said I will be posting a few more times on this trip, mostly stories, and some special things we did, so I will let you guys know when they are posted. But for now I would like to share with you some of my favorite photos that I took and edited slightly:
