Remember two weeks ago when I told you that I would share my summer goals with you, well folks, it is happening.
For those of you who are curious about the goal setting planner I use, I highly recommend Powersheets from the Cultivate What Matters brand. (You can get yourself a set and explore them and their other amazing products here: https://shop.cultivatewhatmatters.com/) I have been using mine since January and absolutely love them and find them incredibly useful, challenging, and grace-filled.
This is a photo of my tending list (a monthly goal setting tool) for the summer. Normally, I do a tending list for each month, but I decided to combine all of my summer goals into one list since I don't really know when Amelia Wilder make her grand entrance. If you want to know more about how I set these goals or got my focus for the month, check out last weeks post and set some good goals of your own.
The top section has a place where I can write encouraging words. I normally choose Bible verses, inspiring quotes, or just really powerful words that I think will encourage me throughout the month.
The tending list is separated into three sections: monthly (summer), weekly, and daily goals. I take my yearly goals and break them down into steps that can be accomplished throughout the month in one of these types of goals. For the summer I decided to choose three themes to help myself focus and create good goals.
1) Be intentionally encouraging.
2) Focus on gratitude.
3) Complain less.
Most of my goals for the month have something to do with one of these three focuses, but there are also a few practical and fun goals that I added to my summer tending list. Since Amelia will be here before I know it, I decided one of my main focuses should be getting her room ready. Along with doing my pregnancy stretches daily to prepare my body for labor. One of my fun habits is to read a lot more now that I only have two jobs. I am going to be sharing my summer reading list, along with 100 word book reviews for each book I read, here on the blog. (Note: I am looking for suggestions to add to my list, so if you have any must read books fiction or non-fiction please send them my way.) You'll see a few goals on my tending list that focus on establishing a prayer habit and reading my Bible, not because I want to treat these items like a checklist, but because they are both things I really want to focus on and establish a habit of. One of the best ways for me to do this is through visible accountability, which the tending list offers.
So far, my favorite goals this summer have been those that focus on encouraging others. I love encouraging others. Seriously, it is one of my absolutely favorite things. I've learned that it is something that really brings me joy. I set a big goal for this: to hand write encouraging letters of thanks to each team member that comes to Proskuneo this summer. This means during the summer I will be writing over 100 encouraging thank you letters, and I am so excited! I can't help but smile as I search for Bible verses to encourage these awesome people who are giving their time and energy to serve the students at Proskuneo.
So there you have it folks, my summer goals. I am really excited about my focuses for the summer and the goals that I was able to set. If you see me or think of it, I would love it if you guys could help keep me accountable this summer. I'd also love to help you guys with your summer goals, whether you need help setting the goals or being kept accountable. Make the most of every opportunity this summer. Set good goals. You guys are totally capable of doing amazing things!
