On Monday, Jt and I found out that we are expecting a little girl. It was actually pretty surprising, I was definitely expecting her to say boy based on my pregnancy thus far. I looked at a bunch of the wives tales that "predict" the gender of the baby, and all of the ones I took said it was going to be a boy. I didn't really believe it would be a boy based solely on this, but it was definitely what I was beginning to expect. We are very excited because she is completely healthy as far as we can tell. Her brain is growing inside her head, she has four chambers in her heart that are all functioning, her kidneys and lungs are developing well and functioning, her spine is intact, she has two legs and two arms, and she is starting to really grow. A few people didn't believe I was pregnant for a while because I wasn't really showing, but I definitely am now, and I'm feeling it. I still haven't experience any morning sickness/nausea and I am totally okay keeping it that way. I've had a few momentary cravings, but nothing weird or abnormal yet. As far as how I feel, mostly just tired and my back hurts, but I am thankfully still able to sleep most nights.
Things I've learned #1: Having a healthy pregnancy and baby is a huge blessing.
Jt is totally obsessed with her already. He talks to her constantly and gets upset if he forgets to tell her good morning or goodnight. Cue the "awwws". It really is super sweet.
Things I've learned #2: Having a husband who really loves your baby before they are even born is a gift.
It will be interesting having a girl first since I am not one for frills or pink. Don't worry though, I've found tons of super cute, non-frilly or overly girly, clothes online that I am planning on putting on some sort of registry and wishlist.
Things I've learned #3: It is okay to not like tutu's and it is okay to tell people that. People want to bless you and make you feel loved and prepared as you bring a child into this world (which is a pretty terrifying thing), they don't just want to suffocate you with tutu's and frills just because.
I have also come up with a few fun ideas for her nursery that are making me pretty excited. I will be doing a few posts on this over the next few months, so you can look forward to those if that is something you are interested it.
Things I've learned #4: It is okay to decorate your babies room and to be excited about it. Not everyone thinks creating a nursery is necessary or important and that is totally okay. Figure out what works for you and makes you feel excited and prepared for the baby.
Many of you have asked if we have picked a name, and the answer is yes! We have picked her whole name and have started sharing it with our families. It isn't a secret, but before we officially announce it, I want people to guess and see if they can get it right, just for fun. So leave a comment here or on Facebook with your guess for our baby girls names. For my blog readers I decided to give a special clue so that you'd have a better chance in guessing it. Her first name starts with an A and it is 6 letters long, her middle name is also 6 letters long and starts with a W. So guess away!
Things I've learned #5: There will always be someone who doesn't like the name you choose, and they don't have to. If you (and your spouse) are happy with the name you chose, that's all that matters.
Things I've learned #6: There is no one size fits all for pregnancy, giving birth, or raising a child. Everyone does it differently and THAT IS OKAY. Cloth diaper moms shouldn't dislike Pampers moms. Essential Oil moms shouldn't be upset with Shots and Antibiotic moms. Nursery and diaper bag moms shouldn't hold a grudge against co-sleeping and no diaper bag moms. Breast feeding moms shouldn't judge or look down on formula moms. Everyone is different and you never know what other mom's are going through, so just remember to love others, you never know the battles they are fighting or the dreams they are having. It is always fun to share what you went through during your pregnancies, or what you chose to do when giving birth, or how you decorated your babies room. Just remember that other people don't have to chose the same thing you did. It makes life a little more exciting when everyone is different.
