As I am writing this, I am only a few days away from my due date, which is kind of crazy, but also it is weird that she isn't here yet. JT and I have been really busy over the last few weeks, hence the lack of posts, so I thought I would give you one final update before the baby comes.
Nursery: I will be doing a nursery tour post complete with pictures in a few weeks. I'll be sharing some of my favorite products, how I organized things, furniture details, etc. Since I am not allowed to paint the walls at our house (hurray for rental rules), I had to decorate and make the space unique in different ways (all on a budget). I know a lot of people who have to do the same, so I figured I'd share my tips in hopes that they'll help/inspire some of you.
Nesting? I don't really think I've had the nesting kick that so many pregnant women have. I have prepped her room and made it a place that I wouldn't mind spending time in, as well as organized a few other things in the house. I think the main reason for this is because I like to try and set myself up for success, not because I have this urge to nest. Then again, maybe I've just always liked nesting, so it doesn't feel like a new urge.
Pregnancy: I still haven't had any cravings or aversions (other than the first trimester "I can't smell butter melting" thing). I am finally sleeping again! For those of you who don't know, there was a period of about a month (almost all of June) where I slept an average of 20 hours or less a week. *Super Fun* Also during that time, the AC in our house broke. *Also Super Fun* But I'm sleeping around 5 hours a night right now, and the AC is working like a champ again.
Side Note: Why is it that we tell women to "sleep while they can" in pregnancy when it is a well known fact that it is really uncomfortable/difficult to sleep when pregnant?
Back to Pregnancy: I don't remember if I talked about it yet, but I passed the glucose test with flying colors. I actually scored better than most non-pregnant adults, which I'm super grateful for. (I don't know if it actually helped, but I ate eggs and toast for breakfast before taking the test.) It really wasn't as bad as people said, it tasted like flat Sprite with too much syrup. The only thing that was not as much fun was that it made me nauseous, but that cleared up as soon as I ate something. Present Day, I'm feeling great and ready to go, just patiently waiting (and praying).
Final Stretch + Prep: Tons of water, vitamins, stretching, squats, walking, pregnancy tea, and thank God for Exercise balls! They are pretty much the only comfortable thing to sit on, especially at work for multiple hours. In addition to preparing my body for labor and delivery, I've been preparing some other things. Food, mostly food. There is the possibility that people will bring some meals after the baby is born, but I knew I would want back up just in case that didn't happen. I figured out pretty quickly that I didn't need to prep 30 casseroles for my freezer, but I did need to prep breakfast items and things that JT could take to work while I'm at home. I've also been prepping playlists, reserving a few books at the library, downloading podcasts, and putting tv shows on my watch list. (I'd definitely still love recommendations in any of these categories.)
Maternity Leave: I will be taking two-three weeks off from my job at Proskuneo after the baby comes, and I'm really grateful for all of the amazing people covering for me while I'm gone. I don't really know what taking a break looks like. I actually have no idea when the last time I took two weeks off was, so taking a break from going to my jobs will be an interesting experience. I've been extra busy at work the last few weeks prepping for the break, and I think I've learned more about my job and what it includes than I have in the last 4 years.
JT and I are so excited to meet Amelia Wilder. We are counting (and praying) down the days for our little adventure to arrive, and we are so grateful for all of the love, support, and prayers that we've gotten so far. I'll be posting updates on my Instragram and Facebook as much as I can, so if you want to know when Amelia arrives keep an eye out there!
